Is that because no-one else will play with you?

I'm glad I didn't see that; I'd have had to poke my eyes out!

Mods! Isn't this a family forum?

Day 2 Part 10:

Quite a nice scene to emerge to in the late afternoon....

Image

The ellie herd was quite regular...and we were in a lucky spot, with a bit of water in front! O/\

Notice the Large Braaier, for the tons of meat! 0*\

Image

Now it was GB and Frewells' turn to braai that night...rather interesting, as GB is a superhamster, and FW an antihamster like me... O**

On the menu was some unidentified meat...hidden in vats of marinade, and purported to be of bovine origin...

GB: "Youthere,manthemarinadevats.I'llwatchthecoalsanddothesweetpotatoes.Chopchop!"

Frew: "Chill, Dude! Check the cool flames!"

GB: " 0= " (He really jumps up and down like that!)

Dw: "What are 'bovine'... :-?"

Now the thing is...the youngsters get frustrated with my authority/lack of sightings/missing their partners etc. on the second evening...pretty much guaranteed every trip. But they also don't realise they are relaxing, and getting a bit sozzled.... :O^

I was idly watching the fire, and placed my dop on the adjacent grill...it fell over mysteriously by itself...no wind or movement...nothing...to great laughter from the crowd!

So I got another one, and left it there too....and lo and behold the glass fell over again a short while later! -O- O-/

GB: " "

Mam: " "

Frew: "Wow, dude... :-) "

Dw: "What are 'bovine'... :-? "

RP: "I think it's the Tokoloshe!"

This got the superstitions going a bit, I must say!

Here's a pic of Dwarf running for his life, pausing only to take a bite of the steak:

Image

Dw: "Aargh! The bovine tokoloshe! (Munch munch)"

No jokes, we were a bit rattled!

GB: "No!Youmaynotsaythat!"

Mam: "Begone!"

Frew: (Fortunately) "Relax, dudes!"

RP: " :-? "

Col. Schwartz: " "

You had to be there, but calm was restored eventually...I think alcohol or heat exhaustion played a role...

Eventually a good meal was had by all!

Day 3! O\/ O/\ ^Q^

Part 1:

Now, in order to understand the idiocy of this morning, one has to listen to this song:

(link supplied by Dewi, thanks!)

The tune will stay in your head for days, but it is an excellent educational aid regarding an exceptional performance by the Dimwits! 0*\

The youngsters hared off on an early morning drive to Shingwedzi, it turned out. Dwarf and I slept in a bit, as our only project for the day was to drive 10 km or so to Babalala to meet leachy and our guest of honour, Sprocky, for brunch! \O

Sounds simple enough! :-)

DW: "Wake up! Where is the youngsters?"

RP: "Don't know? Stop shouting! 0*\ We'll see them at Babalala."

So we went on a leisurely cruise, planning to go to Boyela, up the tar road, and back down the Northerly bit of the Mphongolo loop, which neither of us had done for years! ^Q^

Sounds simple! :-)

Image

Lo and behold, by some miracle, there was cellphone reception near Babalala, and Dwarf got a message from his SO that Frewells' SO had broken her foot in a freak work accident! This was true, and all turned out fine for her in the end, but we didn't know what was potting, or where Fw was! And cell reception disappeared! 0:

Dw: "Emergency! What do we do!"
RP: "We go and phone from camp! \O "

So we dashed around Babalala, snapping these Roan Antelope at the waterhole:

Image

And on down the S-56 (It was scarily hot already, BTW!)

Meanwhile, earlier that morning at Shingwedzi Bridge:

GB's cellphone: "Tring tring!"

GB: "Hello!"

GB's SO: "Is Frewells nearby?"

GB: "Yes. Frewells is here!"

(Frewells' ears prick up... O** )

GB's SO: "His SO has broken her foot..."

GB: "WHAT! Oh no! IS SHE OK?"

(Frewells nearly has a heart attack, not knowing what they are talking about... 0*\ )

leachy: "Good morning!"

Dimwits: "Eeek!"

leachy: See you at Babalala..."

leachy has a habit of sneaking up on people in his vehicle... :O^

Anyway, the message was relayed and the Dimwits were slowly on their way back to Sirheni after a little tour of Shingwedzi, with Fw having phoned his SO, and calm and realising there was nothing he could do from there, as things were sorted! \O

Back to later that morning:

Dw: Are we there yet?"

RP: "Almost! Let's just stop next to the river a bit in the shade!"

leachy: "Good morning!"

Us: "Eeeek!"

(He was also prowling around Babalala awaiting the brunch...)

leachy: "see you at the picnic spot!"

We had no idea he had seen the youngsters, so didn't think of mentioning the foot thing! He didn't know anyway! :O^ O** 0*\

Moved on back to camp, and phoned Frewells, but by that time they were on the way North, so no cellphone for them! 0*\

Dw: "What now?"

RP: "They must be on their way to Babalala! Let's get the brunch stuff and meet them there...what else can we do? Back to the picnic spot!"

Mercifully the farce ended as we met them coming in at the gate on our way out, and order was restored! 0:

We went on to the picnic spot sharpish, so as not to miss our 11h00 deadline with Sprocky and a possibly volatile and hungry leachy, while the youngsters sorted their stuff out in camp! O-/

The dip you go through 20 times a day as you leave camp for the road network:

Image

Early that morning:

Spr.: "Let's see...Got everything...Beer, meat...must remember the ice they asked for! \O "

Simple! :-)

In the Park:

Spr. "Ok! Got the ice! Drat....forgot the cooler! Will put the ice in my tiny beer cooler, and drink warm beer! \O "

0*\
