from SANParks FB
#WeatherALERT! The southern part of #Kruger rivers are swelling fast especially the perennial ones due to some heavy pours since 2h00 am. We urge visitors to be careful on dirt roads as most low level bridges are highly over flown. Roads such as S137, H5, S28 are not fully accessible due to flooding. Some are still accessible but not recommended for small & none 4x4 vehicles due to slippery & high water dams on dirt roads.

This is all happening 21 days earlier than the last two years.

At least the rain has calmed down here in Phala for a short while. O-/

I agree, we still discussed this around the fire at Shingwedzi. O**

Balule was not evacuated by this afternoon according to FB. It rained the whole day in the catchment area of the Olifants and in Kruger, so large increase in volume can be expected even after the rain stopped. Last year Balule camp was not flooded so we hope they will be safe and can at least exit in a few days time.

Was there last year this time, but decided home is the best for this year.

According to FB they are trapped. Michelle van der Merwe made this statement 38 minutes ago.
Balule is still fine for the moment. Tourist can not enter or exit due to the bad road conditions. We are monitoring the situation closely and will evacuate if need be.
