Fantastic sightings nan - the BEF is a real highlight O\/ O\/

I've gone back through my archives to find the pic I had... a bit far off, but the ears are distinctive :-0

Well Toko there certainly are some things that I'm yet to see - it helps make me keep going back to the park ;-)

Something that I hadn't seen in Addo until quite recently was....

Black Rhino!!

Sometimes it pays to stop and have a good look around even when you can't see anything, and this was one such occasion. I stopped on a rise and scanned the surroundings with my binoculars and saw a lone buffalo starting to come out of the bush. No wait! The bush had disguised the animal's shape... it was a RHINO O/\ O/\

I started snapping away, knowing that in all likelihood I'd have a few brief moments as it stood in a clearing in the soft morning light:

But rather than head back into the bushes, it carried on meandering towards me. He seemed a bit wary of my car at first, but having the engine off probably helped as he eventually crossed the road no more than 10 metres in front of me. It was such an awesome experience to be so close to such an amazing yet endangered animal - so close that you can pick out the different colours on its hide other than grey. I was surprised with how tolerant he was of me given the blackie's reputation for aggressive behaviour. The 10 minutes that I got to spend with this fantastic creature is time I'll never forget O:V O:V
