The "Fun Run" is going to be a joy for the eyes, the ears, the nose and all the other senses ....especially those of the animals

Re: Are you booked for Marekele on 01 March 2014
Date: 4th February 2014
Marakele National Park has partnered with Kumba Iron Ore, SANParks Honorary Rangers and Thabazimbi Marathon Club to bring a unique marathon challenge to the public as well as the professional running community in South Africa.
The Kumba-Marakele marathon, which takes place on 1 March 2014, is held in the park to focus the public and the media’s attention on the importance of conservation. It also highlights various fundraising and tourism initiatives which are key to the functioning of the national park.
Furthermore, the marathon aims to deliver a successful marathon that provides an opportunity for runners to experience the wild as well as get the opportunity to qualify for the Comrades marathon. More than just a runners’ challenge, the Kumba Marakele Marathon aims to be a fun day out, bringing together families from across the country in order to promote healthy lifestyles, conservation and tourism.
I don't really mind, as it is a small ecological footprint, like the Skukuza Marathon which takes place every year?
It is plain moneymaking, though..don't know why it is "sugar dressed"...
