Those were only the spoor. What looks like a lion is a very nice lion-log. 
It's only my second ever visit in 18 years that I didn't see lions. We knew where they were, we just never saw them. The females at the t-crossing close to Satara have cubs even! They were seen only days after we were there by friends.
Just one of those things. Hopefully the Kij Gammies lions in Kgalagadi will be kinder to us. Like last time
