nice wet Hyenas ^Q^

yes, bees are a problem at Grootkolk, but it seems, to me, bigger without birds baths... because they come around the tap instead of the birds baths 0*\

Day 7 - 9th October (Continued)

Since you guys enjoyed the hyena's here is some more of them having fun in the water.

Spotted Hyena

Spotted hyenas are incredibly intelligent. Their social intelligence is particularly striking. They even outperform chimpanzees on problem-solving tasks which measure group cooperation. In fact, in this particular task which involves two hyenas working together to pull ropes in order to get food, is carried out by spotted hyenas with up to 100% accuracy after a training trial. It seems that spotted hyenas are hard-wired experts at social cooperation. Not quite the laughing scavengers people often think about.

Day 7 - 9th October (Continued)

After the hyenas had so much fun in the water they went and lay under the tree and the next visitor arrived after waiting patiently for their turn.

Black Backed Jackal

◦The mother jackal changes the den site in every two weeks to protect the pups from probing predators.
◦The species of black-backed jackal like to have a den with multiple exits.
◦An infant jackal takes around 10 days to open its eyes.
◦Jackals are very territorial in nature and zealously protect their area.
◦Jackals are known to be vigorous runners and can run at the speed of 16 km/hr for a long time

Day 7 - 9th October (Continued)

The waterhole was extremely busy and the next animal in the photo firing line was:

Lioness

Male and females greet each other not with a handshake but with a rub, which sometimes becomes so vigorous that one gets knocked down in the process. The act is meant as a means of bonding, as lions leave scent markings on each other during the process.
