We'll have to keep an eye out for you Bushcraft - we'll be leaving Lower Sabie on the 4th... then one more night at Berg before heading out the park.

White Fortuner for us - probably quite a few of them in the park, so I might just stick my 'friends of Addo' stickers on the side =O: =O:

Schedule advice PLEEEZZZ

Post by trailrunner »

Hi All

Thanks Flutterby for the incredibly warm welcome this seems like a really informative and helpful place to be \O . I am a newbie on here and relative newbie to Kruger having made my maiden trip in 2011 and have great memories of spending just three nights at Satara and have been longing to go back ever since. As we are from Cape Town when coupled with budgetary and work constraints it has been difficult to make the commitment to return. My wife very kindly suggested the other day that as my 50th Birthday is on 29th august that we do something special and came up with the idea of going to Kruger for a few days 0/0 . I was blown away by the suggestion and have been unable to sleep, work, eat or concentrate on anything else ever since. This site has been largely responsible for my distractions.

So here’s the thing - I booked yesterday for a two week trip telephonically through a very helpful lady as the Parks reservation office who restructured my initial trip schedule around available accommodation which I really appreciated but am left with a few questions and concerns.

Please if any practical advice, confirmations or suggestions could be offered regarding the proposed schedule it would be most welcome. I would like to sort out any proposed changes before making payment.

Please see schedule below

24/08 - 25/08 (1) - LOWER SABIE BG2 (BUNGALOW)
25/08 - 26/08 (1) – SKUKUZA BD3 (BUNGALOW)
26/08 - 27/08 (1) - LETABA REST CAMP CTT2 (SAFARI TENT)
27/08 - 29/08 (2) - TSENDZE RUSTIC (OWN TENT)
29/08 - 30/08 (1) - OLIFANTS REST BG2 (BUNGALOW)
30/08 - 31/08 (1) – TAMBOTI CTT2 (SAFARI TENT)
31/08 - 04/09 (4) – SATARA BG2 (BUNGALOW)
04/09 - 05/09 (1) - LOWER SABIE EH2 (HUT):
05/09 - 06/09 (1) - BERG-EN-DAL REST BA3 (BUNGALOW)

Herewith my concerns

1). My 1st concern is that we are spending a number of single nights in several of the camps and I am worrying about the constant pressure of spending one night and having to pack and go. I realise that we have left booking a bit late but this is pretty much all that was available for the places that were prioritised i.e. Satara and LWR Sabie. The rest of the camps were coincidental to a relatively linear travel itenarary with Satara being the real priority.

2). I realise that the drive from Skukuza to Tambotie is a long one but surely doable in a day as I am happy to spend one day driving to get up further North.

3). My wife is not mad about the camping scene but willing to suck it up for two nights at Tzendze just for a change of pace.

4). My 50th is at Olifants rest on the night of the 29th. We were allocated the accommodation of a BG 2 bungalow. As this is a rather special occasion we would be happy to spring for something a bit more luxurious for this night without breaking the bank. We would be happy to change camp site to something within the area or lodging within the camp if available, advice here would be most welcome. Probably would like to eat a decent meal on this evening and although mad about braaing may want to be spoilt myself a bit as a rapidly ageing geriatric.

So that’s about it, please all suggestions or comments on the schedule and my concerns would be most welcome \O .

Thank you kindly for this site and the forum, looking forward to becoming part of the family X#X .

0/* Trailrunner - you ARE part of the family. ;-)

I agree with your SO regarding pack and go... but only 'cos I'm an angel too.

Give more attention to electric outlets to charge batteries and at what stage you will start your Trip Report.. =O:

Hi Trailrunner

Your trip looks a bit hectic, but I think it will be ok , just don't be in a hurry to get to the next camp, take your time and relax, enjoy Kruger and have a wonder full time \O

Oh and welcome to this awesome forum ^Q^ X#X

Hi Amoli 0/*

Thanks for the welcome \O

Forgive the ignorance what is an angel?

How can I eliminate some of the pack and go really is the question, happy about the Tzendze and Satara bits but happy to change some of the rest.

Good point on electrical connections, would the bungalows and hut not have these :-?
