SANParks had revenue of R2.2 million, spent R2.3 million and therefore had a deficit of R173 million.

Please explain???!!!

When you take one year's set of financials, no matter how profound some figures are,
you do get 1 + 1 = 2.

The problem is when you take 4-5 years of financials and you see the juggling of figures, new headings added to split expenditure. you find a road that leads to confusion. And every other year, a new set of auditors, who do it differently, just so that no pattern can be followed. You really need to keep your wits in tact.
