H.E , Businesses are bought and sold all the time :O^ I've done it myself ;-)
One makes a business decision that you believe is right at that time , and then act on it . No regrets afterwards . The same as buying or selling a farm , or going into farming , or buy or selling ........ a rhino , or even a number of rhinos .
When it comes to business , it is about money , and emotions do not play a role in it . But idealism , that is where emotions rule 0*\

I bet this frame of mind would be quite applicable
to the poacher as well????

Would this kind of intellect be fruitful in say, maybe
conservation???

If it happens it may be 3500 rhino later, as has been said, once approval is granted it may take another year to get things into place, although I think things will go very quickly!

As I understand it , that guy de-horned all his rhino . So , he has money in the bank ,in the form of rhino horn , sitting waiting for when the time is right to call up his investment :O^
In the meantime , the rhino's will ( should ) be relatively safe from poachers for the new owners who will then reap the harvest again sometime in the future .
Oh , BTW , I also understand that he sold his farm to a BEE consortium . ( My brother's son and wife had a holiday resort on the farm for a long time , until recently , and they now live in Malelane ).

Are rhinos now a liability to South Africa?
And even if we are able to define the market, why are we trading a commodity that fuels a thoroughly absurd, unscientific and superstitious pursuit? How ethical is this? Surely, there is no right way of doing the wrong thing.
I don’t think we should look too far beyond our borders for the criminal syndicates – they are closer to home than we think.
