28 Lazy Days (1) iMfolozi & Hluhluwe*
Re: 28 Layzy Days (1) iMfolozi & Hluhluwe
Day 6 Hluhluwe
Some images from the lazy afternoon:
A pretty animal close to the road

Crested Guineafowl
And some birds in the Nzimane river bed

Cape Wagtail

Three-banded Plover

... smalish compared to elephant dung balls

Purple-crested Turaco

Back at Hilltop camp a bushbuck

Not nice for a braai, so a lazy red wine evening

Day 7 Leaving Hluhluwe
The next morning was still wet and misty

The chalet and the rental vehicle

And then they were there

Samango Monkeys feeding in the trees at Hilltop Camp!

Day 7 Leaving Hluhluwe
Eventually we made it to the camp reception and had another coffee with a view

Last view on the way out

and off to the picnic spot for breakfast

Day 7 Leaving Hluhluwe
And this is the most wonderful moment for me ...
I spot an elephant

... half hidden on the hillside next to the small dirt road, busy feeding there.
We go arounf the corner to see where the rest of the herd is. And yeah, it's a huge herd, the largest I have ever seen in Hluhluwe
The first group has already crossed the road and more and more are walking down

These ones already walking on the other side

Re: 28 Layzy Days (1) iMfolozi & Hluhluwe
Day 7 Leaving Hluhluwe
The next group with a little one carrying a bottle of water along

And they don't follow their herd but walk towards us
We have to reverse

Day 7 Leaving Hluhluwe
The herd has spread on the other side

and these ones insist to walk on the road

We give them more space, reversing again

Re: 28 Layzy Days (1) iMfolozi & Hluhluwe
Eventually we left the Game reserve and went north.
When we arrived in Badplaas, it was late afternoon and we had time for a sundowner hike.
So quickly packed the cooler box: some good cheese, crusty bread and olives, two glasses and a bottle of red wine + corcshrew.
