Re: Addo Outings
On Saturday I spent the day looking for the cubs again but they weren't to be found. It's been over a week now since they were last seen by anyone, but Gina and Josie were seen yesterday and today - apparently calling but without any cubs around. We're all hoping that the cubs are tucked away safe somewhere and that they are all ok
We came across Josie on Saturday and had a great time following her as she moved along a line of bushes on the lookout for any stray warthogs
There are some secretary birds who seem to have taken up residence near marker 29 (the southern side of Harveys Loop). This one appeared to be having a bit of a bad hair day
At the top of the hill above marker 29 there have been herds of eland on the past couple of visits. It's nice to get close to them as they are generally very shy and stay well away from the roads.
The highlight of our afternoon was spotting a caracal on Ngulube Loop. While we were sitting watching it, 3 cars drove by. I was expecting them to ask what we saw, but maybe we weren't looking friendly enough or something as none of them did, and none of them managed to spot this handsome chap.
It was a great day out, but I do hope those cubs are safe!

Hoping with you for the cubs!!!
Otherwise a quite productive outing, I'd say... Lions, eland, secretary and caracal are rather special Addo sightings to me.

There were some regulars as well. It was good to see quite a few jackal around - even at Rooidam - despite the recent issues
