As we headed back along the dirt road to the tar from the picnic site, a Meeve's Starling was sitting on a branch, but in poor light.

A little further along, there were several of them foraging in the grass at the side of the road.

With a Red-billed Hornbill in close attendance.

Reaching the tar road, we headed South and soon found a Lilac-breasted Roller who did not hang about too long.

Image

Further on, some Zebra were grazing amongst a burnt area.

But again, moved off fairly quickly.

A quick stop at Baobab hill for an obligatory pic....

We continued on towards Sirheni, arriving early afternoon and contrary to our usual modus operandi, stayed in camp to relax, drink a frosty or three and enjoy the ambience of this special place.

At dusk, I heard Fiery-necked and Square-tailed Nightjars calling, so bimbled down along the fence path. The birds were hawking insects in the gloom and landing on prominent branches along the path from which to set out on their moth deprivation sallies.

The Burchell's starling is actually a beautiful bird and the LBR has put on her evening dress ;-)

There is no doubt that the last one is a nightjar O:V O:V
