I have just managed to catch up again. 0/* 0/*

Awesome pics Dewi ^Q^ ^Q^ ^Q^

I love all the beautiful sunsets O\/ O\/ O\/

Super birds and lions and the scenery is superb. O/\ O/\

I really enjoy Shingwedzi \O . I see no mention of the low level bridge - is it still damaged from the flood. :-?

Kanniedood hide seems to have been opened up nicely - it was very overgrown a few years ago and quite scary 0*\

Thanks for the comments Mel, H. Erectus, Harrys, Flutterby, Super Mongoose, Pooky & Pumbaa. \O

Mel - No worries, a smiley handclap or thumbs up keeps me happy. X#X

H.E. - Always sweet dreams after these trips into the wilds. X#X

Harrys - I enjoyed the Toko "kill" as much as seeing the big predators. X#X

Flutt's - It was chaos. lol A violent roadblock coming up next. We were scared witless. X#X

SM. - Danke. X#X

Pooky - We crossed the low level bridge, but the floods have piled up debris, rocks and sand against it and cleared away some of the vegetation. No water there to attract anything. The hide is much better at the moment with clear views. X#X

Pumbaa. - I love watching sunrises & sunsets. X#X

A cold, misty morning found Jan and I stomping our feet on the bridge, hands wrapped around mugs of steaming coffee. Nothing much was stirring and it seemed a long wait until the sun cleared the mist to start warming up the day.

Image

We headed in an easterly direction hoping to see if any animals were keeping warm on the tar.

A bundle of excitement was playing in the road, running back and forth, trunk whirling and ears flapping.

Image

After a while, he realised that we were there and went into threat mode. We were terrified. O-/ =O:

Image

Feeling very pleased for himself at having scared the big noisy van, he headed off into the bush to gloat to his mates.

Image

Meanwhile, his Mum just ate peacfully at the roadside, more than likely laughing inwardly at his antics as much as we were. lol

Image

Image

Heading back to camp, a pair of Tree Squirrels were in the process of adding to their numbers on a nearby branch, but he was too camera shy and did a runner before I could focus on them and was left with just a startled female wondering where he had gone.

Breakfast at the restaurant was interrupted by a Shikra who refused to show himself and remained partly hidden in a tree above the deck.

Image

He took off and headed away upriver.

Image

Image

A drive out produced a lone Baboon exposing himself, so a little editing was called for to censor the pic.

Image

A Yellow-billed Oxpecker was giving an Impala ram a sping clean.

Image

Image

And a Kudu bull gazed at us a little nervously as we took his photo.

Image

Image

After a relaxing afternoon in camp, we headed out to the bridge again at sunset and found a herd of ellies leaving the riverbed.

Image

Our last sunset from this bridge was just as impressive as the previous ones.

Image

And was improved upon by five old Cape Buffalo bulls who came down to drink.

Image

Tomorrow we would be moving on to Bateleur, but not before an outbreak of savage violence in the camp outside my chalet.
