New eco-friendly luxury lodge to open in KZN reserve

Cape Town – On the 15th of December this year, Hluhluwe-iMfolozi Reserve in KwaZulu-Natal will open the first eco-friendly luxury private lodge right in the heart of the reserve’s Big 5 territory.

Although there are a few lodges situated within the 96 000 hectare Hluhluwe-iMfolozi Reserve, the new Rhino Ridge Safari Lodge will be the only private lodge in the reserve, which is situated just inland of the majestic Lake St. Lucia.

The luxury lodge is being built with eco-friendly measures, and will be made to blend in with the natural landscapes of the area. The lodge would make use of a grey water system and a vegetable garden will be kept on the premises, from which the kitchen would source fresh veggies.

Despite the plenty of green measures, no expense will be spared in order to provide ultimate luxury and relaxation for visitors. The lodge would boast with an 11 meter infinity pool, dedicated spa retreats and 2 luxury honeymoon suites.

The initiators of the project, Isibindi Africa, together with their partnering stakeholders Frencken & Associates, will aim to involve the neighbouring Mpembeni community as partners in the new project, employing 80% of the staff at the lodge from this community.
The new lodge would form part of the Isibindi Africa Lodges group.
