Hi BC, are you planning to camp in a tent or caravan, if you use a caravan you can use a rally tent and add a rooms for the kids , we camped in Shingwedzi in June/July a few years ago and it only got chilly a bit later at night. Enjoy camping BC. Remember with a caravan you holiday starts when you leave home
No caravan unfortunately, but the old man had them for 30 years, so done plenty of those trips and it's definitely better than a tent; however we only have a turbo 240 6 man tent
Economics have also forced us to move to camping......and I am so happy. Did our first trip 2 months ago. 3 Nights at Tsendze and 3 at Balule. Amazing! R1200.00 for 6 nights in Kruger! Only things I would change are: Bigger tent, crawling around on knees is not good at 70. Also minimum of 4 nights at each camp, maybe 5 as the setting up does take some time. I thought Balule was best, only because of location and the drives in the area, but Tsendze is an amazing camp as well. The staff at both camps are so dedicated and really do a wonderful job of keeping the camps spotless and helping where asked. We have already booked for next year, same camps, 4 nights at each.
I find 5 nights on one spot is great - you then get to a stage where you actually spend time in the camp.
Tzendse was a good experience, though I camp very basic and electricity is important for me.
Electricity and pools for me with kid. Because we generally go in Dec when it is hot, bought a misting fan for inside tent at night. Sorts mozzies and keeps air moving and is quieter than my snoring so doesn't wake me.
