Day 9 Saturday 17 November : Balule -> Satara.

Up late again because it was a moving day.

On the way to Satara, a Hyaena.

Near the petrol station, some Redbilled Woodhoopoes were rooting around.

We had to get a slow puncture repaired. I had to remove and replace the wheel and the attendant spent 30 seconds inserting the plug, charged R50 for the privilege and then seemed a bit put out that I didn't give a tip!

We got set up and took it easy until the afternoon when we headed down the infamous S100.

These Giraffes and Zebs seemed to be nervous but we couldn't see why.

Further along, some Barn Swallows.

Excitable beasties!

Can't recall seeing Woodhoopes on the ground before either. Must have been some bugs between the stones.

"Hyena" is also spelled "Hyaena" ^0^ From the Latin "Hyaena".

Yes, the infamous S100. I think its reputation for being the best road in the park comes from an old KP guide book and is entirely exaggerated. Personally, I prefer the S28.

Welcome and thanks Roger! I forgot to look for scorpions when we were at Maroela 0*\

HBs are my favourite, I was very excited with that sighting.
