Here are three more insects that I need ID help with. All seen in my garden in Darling in late November 2014.

1st insect(s):


this photo has two quite different insects. I first spotted the olive-coloured moth(?) & was watching it & then the little bettle appeared later:

The "moth" is a skipper, and from the Western Cape recorded ones only the Common Hottentot Skipper Gegenes niso looks like this.

The little one below is a fourth instar nymph of the Southern Green Stink Bug, Nezara viridula

For the thingies on your rose I have no clue.

Thanks so much, Toko I did some googling to find out a bit more -- fascinating!

I also had a closer look at the goggas on the rose and I think that they are some sort of Japanese beetle, which I think are a typical rose infestation? I've cropped the photo some more, to show them better. What do you think .....

I think these are bugs in the family Lygaeidae, but I have no clue if there are any rose-lovers. The genus Oxycarenus looks very much alike.
