Re: Addo Outings
Yep, I got lucky that D wanted an Addo camp... not sure where H wants to go yet
For our afternoon drive we were going to concentrate on the Gorah Loop. I was quite surprised to see this chap motoring along at full throttle - they are normally heading towards hibernation by now

By Domkrag Dam there was an ellie quenching its thirst and some zebra milling around. It's nice to be out your vehicle and feel open to the animals there.

Starting the Gorah Loop, this young hartebeest was doing a good job of hiding in the long grass

We were also pleased to bump into Valli Moosa. He's one of the bulls introduced from Kruger a while back. He wasn't interested in facing us, so we took a few snaps and made a plan to try find him again later to see if he'd be more cooperative

Up by Carols Rest there were a couple of beautiful bokmakierie, one of which made a kill right in front of us

Re: Addo Outings
That's totally a win-win situation when you got a kid that loves the bush as much as you do
I'll keep my fingers crossed that the other one will ask for the same
Some serious camping equipment you got there!
Awesome capture of the buzzard.
Oops, you were posting while I was typing... More great photos! Love the one of little D with the ellie in the background.
And the bokmakierie is spectacular.

God put me on earth to accomplish a certain amount of things. Right now I'm so far behind that I'll never die.

Always nice to see Valli Moosa (Does his name mean something?)

I must admit I'm not 100% sure but I believe he's named after Mohammed Valli Moosa who was previously the environment and tourism minister for SA, as well as president of the world conservation union.

Re: Addo Outings
Beyond Carols Rest we found a good herd of ellies on one side of the road and a few Denhams Bustards on the other side.

At the back of the herd there was a big bull, and I think this is Paul - again one of the bulls introduced from Kruger. He has always been a bit aggressive, and back in about 2010 had a huge fight with Skukuza and killed him. After that the park reduced his tusk size and you can see how they look 'trimmed' at the end.

A couple of the youngsters were having fun pushing each other around

A little further along there was a nice BBJ who wasn't too concerned by our vehicle
