DEPARTMENTAL AUTHORISATION: ENVIRONMENTAL AUTHORISATION FOR THE PROPOSED SAFARI LODGE
DEVELOPMENT AND ASSOCIATED INFRASTRUCTURE IN SKUKUZA, KRUGER NATIONAL PARK
This letter serves to inform you, in terms of Regulation 10(2) of the Environmental Impact Assessment Regulations of
2010, as published in GN R. 543 that the National Department of Environmental Affairs (DEA) has decided to grant
environmental authorization (EA) for Listed Activities associated with the proposed Safari Lodge Development and
Associated Infrastructure in Skukuza, Kruger National Park. The Environmental Authorisation is dated 28 May 2015
(received on 29 May 2015).
A copy of the positive Environmental Authorization (EA), which contains the conditions of approval and reasons for
the decision, is attached. In short, the Department is satisfied that, subject to compliance with the conditions
contained in the environmental authorisation, the authorized activities will not conflict with the general objectives of
integrated environmental management laid down in Chapter 5 of the National Environmental Management Act,
1998 and that any potentially detrimental environmental impacts resulting from the authorized activity can be
mitigated to acceptable levels.
In terms of Chapter 7 of the NEMA EIA Regulations, 2010, the National Appeal Regulations of 2014 (GN R. 993) and
the National Appeal Amendment Regulations, 2015 (GN.R. 205) any party who wishes to appeal against any aspect
of the decision must lodge a Notice of Intention to Appeal with the Minister, within 20 days of the date of the
decision, by means of one of the following methods:

Not unexpected at all, but many things placed on record, and many watching from all over!
Personally, I think once construction begins, there will be an outcry, as In asking "Why did nobody do anything about this?"
That is how the whole planet works, unfortunately. You and we in AW did their bit in spades, as they say, and it is not over by a long shot, IMO...

The Hotel is going to use up a bigger and bigger chunk of this, as costs spiral!

probably more profound than the initiation order it self,...
In my experience I have seen variations exceed the initial budgets
but yah,....try revert that back!!!!

Skukuza Conference Lodge 250 bed hotel with all amenities R217.568 000 2015/04/01 to 2016/09/30 budget.
