From Berg to bush in March 2015 part two – KZN*

when we returned we met a gentleman on the boardwalk who asked whether we had seen some birds. We talked for a while and he turned out to be Jotham Maduna, one of the local bird guides which we were thinking of hiring, but did not because we were not sure if and when we would get there. As he offered to walk with us we gladly accepted . In the end we were very happy having him around as I think else we would have seen nothing and on top we probably would have gotten lost.

we had to return to Umlalazi and to check out. Then I took the short walk on the mangrove trail where I saw a crab and some fish eagles

we went on another drive to the forest lodge to see if we could find more palm-nut vultures but we only saw a pied wagtail





Thus we left Mtuzini and ...

St. Lucia 15.03.-18.03.2015

we arrived at St. Lucia guest house at about 12:30 pm. At 4 pm we went on a cruise on the Estuary

the first sighting was a water monitor

then an ant’s nest

lots of hippos

[Tina]

a pied kingfisher

[Tina]

common sandpiper

a giant kingfisher eating a crab

and fishing for another one
