Dangerous Animal Incidents
Re: Incident with leopard
But eye witness says it came from passenger side in front and then jumped onto bonnet and into vehicle?
Re: Incident with leopard
I think this guide got too close and stayed in a dangerous area when he didn't know where the animal was. He was there for the pictures for his guests. I also think the closer you are, the theory of an animal seeing you as part of the vehicle goes out the window as you are so close they are able to distinguish the difference, if that makes sense.
Re: Incident with leopard
Nothing seems to make any sense anymore.
The leopard came from the passenger side in one account and was on the sandbank in another account.
Nhongo Statement refers to Mr. Plumb, the guide warning other tourists about the aggressive behaviour of the animal but takes an open vehicle into the danger zone WITH GUESTS
.
And the Hyundi driver,
And above statement by Mr Austin, very well put together.
but, I suppose it is the normal thing, those agreeing and those not. With SANParks dabbling in all areas grey.

Re: Incident with leopard
Hmmm....this is weird, that reply from Douglas Austin, IMO...
Firstly, why would a leopard jump over the bonnet straight into the vehicle without warning? They are very athletic....but not the easiest route to take?
Secondly, why now an eyewitness account 5 days after the fact?
Anyway, the most disconcerting thing is a comment a bit later by "Vicky"...
What I wish to come of this, is guide-only tours in KNP; none of this self-drive. An expert on animal behavior is necessary in so many occasions, both for human and animal safety. An excess of cars and people that don’t obey rules cause undue stress. Healing prayers for the guide, and sad thoughts for the leopard.
.Also a plea for info from "Julia' for the Stevens investigation. I'll dissect more just now.

Re: Incident with leopard
I'm afraid but the above picture tells all,....we have a very aggressive
animal in very close proximity of an open vehicle,..leopards usually
shy and very easily disturbed. This leopard was given a chance to be
antagonistic,...over and above it's disposition and ill health, probably
adding to it's aggression,...
Once again, we as visitors are just allowed to become too common with
mother nature of this level and the dangers that it with holds. All because
the curators see financial gain in this practice,..
Sanparks have no control over the actions and missions that the private
guiding fraternity practice in fact cast a blind eye for it suits the pocket.
The curator has lost touch with reality and especially with in-house rules
and regulations that would protect wildlife and thereafter the visitors,..

Re: Incident with leopard
Ja, Robert, I think that was after the incident...it is clearly buggered and angry.

Re: Incident with leopard
obviously this Leopard is agressive... why the open vehicule stay around (with many guests/tourists/clients)... it has 4 wheels to run away
and the other cars a lot of windows
no need to run over

Re: Incident with leopard
Well here we have it once again,!!!!
This footage obviously prior too the incident in question!!!!
Oh yeah, I can just hear the boasting outcry abroad about having
experienced this amazing trip under guidance of him or her,,...
and so on and so on,...,
This video manifests that OSV's and their practice have become
more than common,.all for entertainment purpose, money in pocket.
