Re: Its a WILD life....
Years ago, on one of our first trips to Kruger, we were watching a clan of hyenas somewhere around Timbavati picnic spot. All the windows were open and my dad, in the driver's seat, had his arm resting on the window sill. The hyenas were all on the left side of the car so we were all looking in that direction. Suddenly, my dad made a strange sound and the whole car rocked. Without us noticing, a hyena had appeared on the right side of the car and given my dad's elbow a good lick!
Since then, we are a lot more vigilant at sightings!

I would have loved to see your Dad's face!!!!
I have had my bumper chewed on like that before! Watching the sneaky buggers in the front, and the one at the rear had a good chew of a Jeep Bumper...

Re: Its a WILD life....

So the next story involves an Ellie with a ME problem and my late brother and my Dad... We were at a private reserve bordering the park, and having a great time, when my father convinced me (I would never walk in the bush due to the fact that there were always Ellies around), to take a walk in the bush!
So we were having a peaceful walk, when suddenly the rangers (one in front one at the rear), halted in their tracks!

Well, suddenly the ellie came and the rangers abruptly turned and ran their hearts out away from us, not to be seen for another 5 minutes or so. So, my father, brother and Myself decided now might be a good time to run as well!
We all ran in different directions (Which was apparently the reason we all survived the incident), and managed to avoid being elllie toys! We found ourselves up a tree, in a hide, overlooking a beautiful dam, with the rangers already keeping a spot for us!!!

The ellie was interested for a minute or so, but gave up on the tree and left us to call a landy to our rescue.... A few glasses of whiskey later, and we were all back to normal, and heard the ellie was named 6 SENCE and was an expat from Mozambique, and did not like many humans... Just my luck to go walking on the day he was around!!!

They thought it was very funny!!!
But they made up that evening with some awesome Leopard sightings, so all was forgiven!
