Elephant kills buffalo

Written by: Ros Stansell for Latest Sightings

A huge herd of elephants, with many young calves, was drinking by the S48 waterhole in the Kruger National Park when a young buffalo approached the waterhole.

The buffalo looked thirsty but the elephants were not in the mood to share. They chased the buffalo away but if that wasn’t good enough a lone cow went back and killed the buffalo by stabbing it.

Elephants are protective especially when they have young calves around. It was a scary sighting and an incredible emotional event.
