I was back in the park at the start of December after something of an unexpected extended break... it was just a day trip, and I was really hoping to see some lion. 2014 was an amazing year of lion sightings, and although I have seen them a number of times in 2015 it has almost always been a long way away. It was time for some closer encounters
On Ngulube loop we found a secretary bird patrolling the edges
As well as a buffalo playing hide & seek in the long grass
We also came across a shy bushbuck, but unfortunately before it came fully into view a park vehicle came thundering by and scared it off
The leopard tortoises were out in force, and this one seemed to be taking lunch with him.
It was already mid-morning with no cats in sight so it was a bit of a surprise to find a hyena at Marion Baree waterhole. It didn't stick around for long, but it was great to see one
There was some general game up on Gorah loop including this handsome chap
The park seems to be the place to be lately what with the 3 cheetah that broke in a while back (and which I'm still yet to find). This nyala is also an illegal immigrant
At Hapoor this years egyptian goslings were making good progress - probably the lack of elephant activity at Hapoor due to plenty of rain has helped them avoid being trampled
Unfortunately we didn't have any luck with the lion, but it was just great to be back in the park

Re: Addo Outings
Illegal nyala as well Hope it doesn't get eaten by the lions by the time we are there.
Hilarious tortoise shot! Somehow I don't find them particularly intelligent looking.

It might be great to see a spotted hyena, but my is she ugly
On the other hand, the kudu is beautiful
No elephants and no cats
