Sunday 29 November 2015 - Skukuza -> Balule.

The weather-guessers had predicted that the day would start off cloudy but would quickly improve with sunshine by 10:00. Bzzzzt - WRONG. It started off cloudy and stayed cloudy until Late afternoon.

I went to Lake Panic anticipating that the gloom would give way to some sunshine.

It did brighten up a little but the Sun stayed stubbornly absent from view.

Back to camp to pack up and get some breakfast. We hit the Cattle Baron again and had the all-you-can-eat buffet breakfast. This was very good value at R80pp and was probably the best breakfast I've had at a restaurant in the Park during the past 25 years.

The journey to Balule had some highlights, but not many.

Elephants, also in the Sabie River bed.

And a big surprise in the middle of the day, our only Leopard for the trip which we'd have missed if it weren't for a friendly truck driver.

After setting up at Balule we decided to take it easy and stay in the camp for the rest of the afternoon.

This is Balule's resident Scrub Hare.

And the first of many, many, many Cicadas.

I can hardly imagine Lake Panic without sun, but at least you got a squacco heron and a green-backed one \O

The sightings were good but sparse.

When you get back to SA, go to Marievale Bird Sanctuary - lots and lots of Squaccos there!
