In fact a more than once in a lifetime experience, Aat :-0

and it always shows that travelling through the park is not that necessary - Simply choose an interesting sighting and look what might come around as well O\/

WoW :ty: so much

Thanks Pumbaa !!
It felt like watching a NG programm but it was real this time.

Just noticed that my story about the Leopard (near Mopani) has been published in Rapport , a south african "newspaper"

Aat&Elly-Story 08 - Breakfast with Cheetah+Kill

Post by aat »

*** Travel Tales ***
Trip to Kruger NP 2015 (October – November) New series of Stories

08 – Breakfast time with Cheetah + Kill

Time to join again… so welcome on this drive somewhere in the southern region
We left very early and just after 5 minutes we met a large number of Wilddogs. I will tell about this later on in another story about these fascinating animals.
This story is about a Big Cat , Cheetah !

After driving some time and not really knowing where to go we suddenly saw a spotted cat , leopard ? no…. a Cheetah. A male and a real big boy !

First photo I made and looking through the lens I saw his face was “bloody”

-

-

Results of a fight ? He was laying down near a tree and looking around all the time…

-
Image
-

Standing up…walking away a bit, turned , came closer and sitting down… those eyes…

-
Image
-

After some time he was up his feet again and at a distance of about 20 meter he walked slowly to his “target”

-
Image
-

His breakfast … he killed a Kudu. So close we could see how impressive he was, I think we have never seen such a big cheetah before

-

-

Cheetah eating… so did we… breakfast together. We could see it was a good sized Kudu he took down.

-

At that time just one other car near us enjoying this sighting. Elly and I just realized it was the first time we saw a Cheetah with a fresh kill and feeding.

-

-

Licking before feeding…

Watching him for some time he was looking around all the time, avery few seconds , guess he was afraid for hyena’s taking away his breakfast.
Sunrise was covering this scene with beautiful light

-

-

So close we could hear him feeding and sitting there at pole position looking at this beautiful Cheetah.

-

-

Almost an hour together and I was hoping he gave me that look into these special eyes…

-

-

So far it was quiet, but then… tourist vehicles arrived …driving far too fast , lots of noise
We finished our breakfast and the Cheetah walked away from his kill to take a nap…with a full belly

We moved on with again a big big smile on our faces….

End of this drive , hope you liked it
