Re: Addo Outings
Been checking the pics again on my laptop so I can see them better now. I'm fairly sure the first one is Gibson and the second is MelvinMel wrote:Might be the same one... One is from the morning and one from the afternoon the same day in the same location.
But I definitely got them both in the afternoon, one walking and the one posted. I had thought that the one walking
was the same as the first one on the other side. But it seems I was wrong. Will pm you with the other photo. Thanks.

Re: Addo Outings
We had a fun trip to Addo a few weeks back. My parents were over for a visit so they came along and we very much enjoyed meeting Mel & SO for the first time in person
I don't want to give away anything that might be of relevance to Mel's highly anticipated TR
But these were some of our sightings from the day visit
A very alert BBJ on the southern access road
Jackal buzzard
Along Vukani loop a young red hartebeest had obviously eaten something strange for breakfast and while the rest of the herd was peacefully milling around, this one was aiming to set new 500m records as it was charging around
It also started pronking which was very funny to watch... look mom I can fly!
Near Jacks picnic site there was a very little kudu staying close to mom
Black shouldered kites were out and about in abundance again
We were treated to some very close elephant action at Spekboom. They were enjoying a mud patch right up next to the fence where we were standing
This little one decided to faceplant into the mud for fun

Beautiful raptors and the red haartebeest must have mistaken the time of the year and thought it was spring

Re: Addo Outings
It was really great meeting you and your great family! Thanks for making the effort coming into the park, especially considering that you probably must have had other stuff to get done for the trip you started the next day.
But there is not much to give away from that day, I suppose Other than admitting that we were chasing the lions that had disappeared into thin air, so that we never found them. Still, I enjoyed even that
But seeing that cutie mudface, I think we should have swapped the big bull at Hapoor against visiting Spekboom. However, once we got on our way, that place was packed with a capital P! Cars parking all over, so we kept carrying on.
The pronking hartebeest
Will try to start my TT at the weekend. But it'll be a bit of Cape Town first.
