A few km north of Rooiputs we finally found 3 cheetahs in the road. They did not stay to long and headed towards Botswana side.

08/12/2015 - South of Kij Kij

About halfway between Rooiputs and Kij-Kij we spotted the 3 cheetahs of the previous day again. This time they were totally relaxed and with no other cars we spent quite a bit of time with them and followed them until Kij-Kij water hole was in sight.

When they got about 500 meters from the water hole the one cheetah got into a tree followed by another one staring at the springbok drinking water at Kij-Kij. Some of the springbok moved more south in the direction on the cheetah which will make any easy hunt for the three. As we were hoping for something to happen a lion started roaring causing the cheetahs to flee towards the dunes heading west. Poor cheetahs had to miss out on a good meal.
