We stayed with the feeding ellie for a few more minutes, enjoying the encounter to the full.

Image

Marvelling at all the muscle control on show.

Image

Using its trunk to push food further into its mouth.

Image

Or was it just comfortable to hold the trunk here to relax?

Image

And a last pic of this individual as we left it to enjoy its meal in peace.

Image

Another one also allowed some close up pics.

Image

Image

And after all the close ups, here is one with a wider perspective.

Image

Nearby a hippo was relaxing.

Image

While a lone buffalo bull was enjoying the setting sun.

As the sun settled over the horizon, we watched as a family herd of elephants came down to the river to drink.

Image

We were not quite sure what the little ellie on the left was doing, but he or she seemed to be having a fun moment.

Image

Others in the herd a little further on were obviously having a social moment between themselves.

Image

Maybe establishing long term friendships or social hierarchy?

Image

Mum & her little one were off for a walk along the beach.

Image

When another adolescent hurried over to induce a game out of the little one.

Image

"Let's walk together in exactly the same steps shall we?"

Image

Whilst elsewhere, the game of tangled trunks carried on regardless.

Image

Meanwhile, the little one had come to his senses and had figured out which was the right way up.

Image

Whilst this one just ran around on the beach having the time of his life.

Image

We left the herd as they all gathered together in the fading light to settle down for the night.

Wonderful capture of the elephants along the Chobe and other animals and birds. ^Q^ ^Q^ ^Q^ ^Q^ Was also one of my best trip taking a boat cruise along the Chobe. The hippos can be quite scary when you in a small 6 persons boat with a small engine, but luckily our guide could read their behavior.

Lovely sunsets as well. \O ^Q^ ^Q^ ^Q^
