Those lazy days at Grootkolk are the best, Mel

It is great to see that much Kudus together and on top the eland as well - Great shots too \O :-0

Sigh....so homesick. :-( Grootkolk is truly a gem.

The pic of the kudus against the straw colored grass is lovely . [O]

Just love the one of the lonely Gemsbok in the shade of a tree. ^Q^ ^Q^ ^Q^
Thanks for your kind comment, steamtrainfan :-)

Yeah, me too. My favourite photographic spot when sitting on the patio / at the fence at Grootkolk. The contrast of colours, especially when the sky is blue like that, is fantastic. That was the good thing about it being cooler than usual: not so much haze in the air. :-0

Poor springbok just falling down dead...I wonder why? :-?
Might be RP's suggestion in this case. But after the rains it obviously also happens as there is a plant the will grow then and it's poisenous to the springbok (and possibly other antelopes). So when they feed on that they'll also not survive O-/

Nice to see elands. No oxpeckers in KTP ?

So the waterhole is filled up manually from a pipeline?
Agree on the tree, Lis! That's why I took the pix in the first place lol

As nan said, no oxpeckers in the KTP.

The waterhole will constantly fill up. Kind of dripping water into the waterhole. But once the wildebeest or eland have called in,
Franco (or Isak) will open the tap for the water to flow quicker. But it does affect the water pressure at the taps of the kitchens
in the units lol

PJL wrote:Strange about the springbok pegging out - possibly one of the rarest sightings of all in the wild... a 'natural' death
Definitely one of the rarest sightings lol Only, I didn't really see it... only the aftermaths. Now I wonder what it must have looked like... Did the
springbok sink on its knees or did it just blunty fall over -O-

So nice to see old trees...no elephant!

Springbok fatality maybe a pregnancy thing? 0:
Thanks, RP. Coming from an English teach I take it as a compliment

As for the springbok... I guess, you might have a point here since my explanation to Flutts doesn't apply yet as there hadn't been any rain yet when we were there.
