I certainly don't have much on the trap camera side. This time was the first time around that I kept it up until around midday before the sun hit the casing.
But there's hardly anything at night. The distance to the waterhole at Grootkolk is too far for the camera to react. Basically, it only caught the lions, for
example, because some birds triggerd the release. At Uri things were even worse because the distance to the waterhole was even farther and the bird activity
right in front of the cam by far not as hectic as it was at Grootkolk.

Ugly Kid Joe is such a character - It is with small Boys you only have to look at them and know who the naughty one is

Love also the active ones and the male drinking from the waterhole

I don't know anything about trap cameras, Mello? Maybe others are also curious?

The raptor collection in, around, on our way to and from Grootkolk... started off with

a black-shouldered kite on the Nossob side


Funnily, they were even more abundant along the Auob Riverbed...

Then we had a rather skittish pair of secretary birds drinking at Cubitjie Quap

This one, who we found between Grootkolk and Union's End, was up to no good

Check right, check left...

The adult version of the bateleur around Kannaguass was much better behaved

Secretaries must be the most unelegant flyers in town... or rather landers

[Mel]

Then we had this black-chested snake-eagle who tried to come to Grootkolk waterhole for a drink several times...


...but was always chased off by the resident pale chanting goshawks who must have been breeding somewhere close by.

And also a lappet-faced vulture that was not part of the dead springbok gang.



Interestingly, none of these came to feed that day... only the white-backed and the Cape vultures
