Jolly good, stf!
If that bird was small and alone it could have been a female wydah or widow-finch?

Even if the beak looks a bit small in that pic, the markings are right for a red-billed quelea

Just caught up again here STF! More brilliant sightings... the rhino and lion antics must have been great to see, whist the giraffe from the hide is fantastic

Re: OUR OCTOBER 2016 WEEK
DAY 7 - THURSDAY 13 OCTOBER 2016 - AFTERNOON.
After a short drive around and seeing nothing I decided to go sit at Mankwe hide for a while.
How I wish I had the Nikon camera with me as it can take shots at 1/4000 but the Canon SX50 can only take take at a maximum of 1/1250.
I am sure the following sequence of photos would have come out much clearer but here they are.
Two plovers hassling a fish eagle.

Re: OUR OCTOBER 2016 WEEK
oooops , sorry about the break - pressed wrong button.
After about 20 minutes of dive bombing the plovers flew off and left the fish eagle to settle down albeit in a bit of a ruffled state.
Our final photo for this trip.
We hope that you enjoyed it as much as we did.
Thank you for all your comments, bird ID's and other banter.

Yes those last pics were useless, stf!
What does 1/4000 mean?
Thanks very much, this was very good indeed...lots of info for potential Pilanes visitors!
Did Joan win at Sin City?

Re: OUR OCTOBER 2016 WEEK
Love watching when smaller than raptor birds hassle the bigger relatives! Always a great show when the smaller ones try to protect what's theirs against the "predators"
