Fantastic Aat. Must be amazing to see the whole pride together!!
Aat&Elly:08-Mega Story about a Mega Pride in the North (part III)
Thanks all for the lovely comments.... but , I am not finished yet with these Lion...
Here is..part III
08 – Into the Mega Pride part III
Here is part III of this mega story about the mega pride (northern section of Kruger NP)
Part I was about the sighting October 25th 2016, part II was November 1st 2016, this is part III after the cliffhanger “What did they see / hear and what was going to happen ? Next time , Part III you will find out”
Part III is about the reunion with all lion together. We counted 18 before when the elephants disturbed their “nap” and the 24 we counted here where we were watching …
Ears in radar position, faces following the sounds…. And from around the corner the first of the family was approaching.
-
-
A warm welcome back….
-
-
And after running away for the elephants and finding all the cubs it’s a good idea to go to the beach and drink….
-
-
More and more lions returned and starting socializing and telling what happened…
-
-
It was really breathtaking to have this wonderful view over so many lion. I could not capture them all in one shot , but from the car it was pending a bit from left to right to see all , from the water up to the top of the hill…and everywhere Lion.
-
-
And
-
-
A “call” from top of the hill…. , I guess daddy returned and called the family…
-
-
One by one they left the water and moved to the top of the hill…
-
-
Last shot of this amazing sighting….
We were asking ourselves… how long can such a big pride exist … probably we will never see so many together. The combination of the size of the pride and the location was very very special.
-
-
Was this the last time we saw them ?
Will be continued soon……………
Thanks and hope you also liked this part of the story

That's really a very large pride and not much food for them in that area. But they have been in that area for a very long time
Next trip to the bush??

Brilliant still, aat!
Ja, one can see cubs of different ages and litters there. Plenty of food in the drought so they hang on and grow nicely!
The thing is with mega-prides is that they need abundant prey all year-round, as in the Central District, even then many cubs don't make it. Curious as to how long this lot will last now?
