Spoke to the son of a guy who built the dam 60 years ago...turns out the dam never broke, just overflowed and remained intact after 1.5 m of water went over in a global warming-type of cloudburst in the 2000 hectare catchment! :shock:

The "pipes" under the bridge couldn't handle it, not because of the flow, but because of the "backflow" from the downsteam side curling back.

The father was called and commended for dam-building! \O

Bridge still not fixed... O-/

Hard at work there still...the equipment is all lying there...corrugated iron "pipes" it shall be again! \O

TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURES IN SANParks - Kruger National Park
Guest and residents of the park are hereby informed of the temporary closure of roads following the recent rainfall in the park until further notice as follows:
S130, S135, S139, S147, S47, S50, S52 (North section between red-rocks loop and H1-6 is closed), S56 (South section between Nwarihlangari loop and H1-7 is closed), S63 (Pafuri Picnic Spot is not accessible) and S64.

Shingwedzi Roads will be closed temporarily for demolishing of Kannidood dam:

“The area around the target structures will be cleared to ensure animals and human beings are safe; all roads in the areas will also be temporarily closed e.g. S50 gravel road will be closed from S50 and S143 junction in Mooiplaas up to S50 and S134 junction in Shingwedzi from 6 to 23 April 2018”, said the General Manager: Communications and Marketing, William Mabasa.
