Hi,
I also prefer the Auob side than the Nossob side. I would definitely try a remote wilderness camp, for the peace and atmosphere, even if we don't always see much. We were last May at Bitterpan and we saw nothing at the camp, and almost nothing on our way in and out. And we were last month at Gharagab which was better (Gemsbock, Springbok, Jackal, Brown Hyena at the waterhole) and the road is also better and shorter to get to the camp. I have not tried Urikaruus or Kieliekrankie yet.
At Nossob, we were in a riverfront cottage (n°15, that's the 4th one) and we can actually see the waterhole between the trees, and not that bad with binoculars, and we can see if something comes along the riverbed. We also had some good sightings at Marie se Gat and Kwang.
It is a bit expensive, especillay if we compare with the Kruger or other parks, but if the money goes to conservation, there is no problem for me.
For the season, we wanted to see the park green and lush, but last year in May it was too late and this year in January, it was too soon (the rains were just beginning). Next time, we will try end of February/March.

IMO the best wilderness camp is Urikaruus \O At Kielie Krankie the water hole is far away and there isn't much "traffic", but there is a special atmosphere and the landscape is completely open in front of you. No trees. A question of taste

Of course a small part of the money goes to conservation, but if Sanparks does not even have the money (or the will) to "conserve" the accommodations......... O/

Uhmmm.... the accommodation money does NOT go for conservation :X:

In addition to your accommodation , all visitors pay a " daily conservation fee " ..... and I am not even sure whether that is all used for conservation 0*\
