Pity about the roads, stf, but what can one do? -O-

Excellent pics and sightings, though, and lions at last! :-0

We keep food in our cheek pouches sometimes, maybe that is what you saw... O:V

Ja, the sunbirds are tricky to photograph indeed, but well done! \O \O \O \O

We love Orpen camp but don't like the roads around there. We last did the S145 in 2010 in a Quantum minibus...the road was so bad we thought the whole dashboard was going to fall out. I can't believe it's still in the same condition! 0*\

You had some nice bird sightings and lions at last! ^Q^

Not much of a day :-( It was actually better in camp lol

Flat lions are more boring than impalas O**

....and with roads like that :O^

I hope that you had better luck the next day :-)

It will take a lot to get us to go to Orpen again. My poor little car now has rattles where I never knew it could get rattles.

I did have more fun in camp trying to snap a sunbird.

10 June 2018 - Part 1/3.

So instead of going out to look for sable again today we decided to do the H7 and as much of the S100 as we could.

Early morning out of Orpen.

Image

This hyena came out to greet us but seemed to be on a mission.

Image

Joan got this photo. H7 - The Golden Highway.

Image

Tawny Eagle.

Image

Our second lion sighting on the H7. We were told that this lioness was walking towards Orpen with 11 cubs but by the time we got to her she must have hidden them and was now walking away from Orpen.

Image

Image

An early morning fish eagle on the H7.

Image

Juvenile Bataleur also on the H7.

Image

To be continued.
