Love that stretch of the Olifants River outside the Park ..More Pels Fishing owls than the part in the Park on the river ..My family have a place nearer to Kruger /Adjacent to Kruger at Olifants Private Game Reserve

Re: Grietjie Private Reserve
Thanks again, everyone!!
Well, yesterday was a scorcher and today is even worse. Here is what I could find in the heat yesterday...
This pic demonstrates nicely how a Giraffe walks. It lifts both feet on the same side at the same time and moves them forward. That's where that wobbly motion comes from when they walk...
The Steenbok seem to be a lot more relaxed...(habituated to vehicles)
It was still early and even the Spurfowls were heading for shade...
Pics from this morning coming up soon...

Re: Grietjie Private Reserve
As I said, another HOT start to the day, so I was back home before 10h00.
First up, a White-crowned Shrike...
These guys seem to handle the direct sun quite well...
I'm not sure what the Jackal on the left had on it's mind...
Lastly, a Gnu...
Unfortunately I am back at work next week and will only enjoy drives again on weekends, until December.

Re: Grietjie Private Reserve
Yesterday afternoon late, just before the storm, I found a pride of five Lions. I managed to get a few good (I think) shots of the one male. Unfortunately, the wind knocked our power out and I couldn't dump them off the camera. I'll sort them out after work today and hopefully, I'll be able to post them here this evening.
