we realized a movement on a tree stump nearly on the ground and after we came closer same revealed as Wahlberg eagle although indeed and unusual place to spot an eagle.

As either the river or a lot of remaining puddles in the veld were still carrying a lot of water we met some lovers of the many water such as warthogs,

Image

zebras

Image

as well as more elephants in the riverbed

Image

and this herd was containing once again out of a lot of smaller ones

Image

Image

and they came indeed closer

with a lot of cuties and somehow more and more appeared

and even extreme close.

Image

We stopped on the causeway S118/S114 and the second we stopped nearly all terrapins in the water

Image

hurried to our car and we had indeed difficulties not to overrun them.

Image

We carried on and met kudus and impalas en masse

Image

and a lighter eagle

Image

Image

and more impalas were taking a rest in the green and high grass.

Image

For sure we had a great time in watching either the active or the resting ones

Image

with the obligatory oxpeckers or without in company or alone

Image

to be continued.......
