From Floods and Surprises in River beds

Always amazing to see this raptor in so many different colours

Those terrapins are creepy close up!

The terrapins were extreme tame and simply love these raptors

They occurred plentiful this year throughout the park

Finally we were even allowed to take some real close ups.



Besides the impalas it is such great pleasure to also see the park that green and the grass so high.



A little further on we spotted another white winged widowbird



and in the many deeper puddles along the road we came across a couple of blue waxbills who arrived



to quench their thirst and it was indeed a great come and go of these birds.



Next stop was then at Gardenia hide although a lot of cars were standing at the parking lot we dared to pay a visit there and first we were shocked about the number of people in the hide at least all of them behaved quiet and so we sat down and started to scan the area.



A group of impala had arrived or was about to arrive to take a drink



and some started a fight.



We spotted a lot of terrapins,



discovered one of the very well hidden water dikkops,

captured a pair of knob-billed ducks,



detected a couple of crested francolins extreme close at the hide



and also noticed not far away a sandpiper.



Meanwhile also most of the people left the hide and we were nearly alone and changed our position in the hide to the other side now and so we could admire another woodland kingfisher



and noticed a group of vervets in the close by trees



out of which the many youngsters were extreme curious





and they followed us with their eyes what we were doing with those long lenses



and the click objects. At least we had more than fun in observing them as especially the youngsters are always such cuties.

Gardenia hide is often full of impalas.

The best are the young vervet monkeys though. They look so innocent, haha!!
