11 July, Crocodie Bridge

Not long after getting back to camp, RP arrived in his car...his hut was about 20 metres away! O** He had his trusty basket and infamous ice-bucket! lol He told the Brat it was fire-building lesson time! O**

I had told RP that we had chops and chicken and that I was making a potato salad but he still arrived with a pack of 12 chops, 4 steaks and boerewors....I don't know who else he thought was coming for dinner!! lol lol He also insisted on making pap and sheba which I told him we didn't eat, but he wasn't deterred and I got a pap-making lesson! lol

After all the preparations were done we could sit down and chat...and have a few drinks. O** While chatting I looked over to the stove and saw a knife move. I looked at the Brat and he had huge eyes, also looking at the knife!! It had spun around almost 180° with no visible signs of what caused it to move!! We checked the knife - it wasn't sitting in water and there was no wind...it was really weird! O-/ -O-

Not long after that something rather large fell on my head. I jumped up, trying to shake whatever it was off and heard it fall on the floor...it was a gecko!! How does a gecko fall on someone's head...don't they have sticky feet??  0- Creepy crawlies don't worry me too much but I must admit my first thought was that it was a huge spider and that freaked me out a bit!! O** We were all a bit disconcerted over the knife and falling gecko and RP felt the need to touch the ice-bucket to ward off any ghosties. lol The Brat and I weren't freaked out enough to jinx the rest of our trip so we declined!

We had the perfect fire and RP put the chicken and hundreds of chops on to cook! O**

RP with his plate :O^ and braai spice!

By the time the chicken and chops were cooked the fire was dying so I told RP not to cook the steak and wors but he fiddled around with the coals and threw the rest of the meat onto the grid! 0- We couldn't even finish the meat we had already cooked, so RP went home with enough leftovers for weeks! lol

We had a great evening, with a few drinks (maybe more, in RP's case O** ^0^ ) and lots of laughs. RP left at about 11pm...I wonder how long it took him to find his way back to his hut? O**

Another 10 people could have been invited lol lol

Who was drinking fruit juice  lol

Maybe RP's idea was exactly that, to have leftovers for a week. Cooked they would be ok, but not raw lol lol

How high did you jump when the gecko fell onto your head O** The knife moving sounds almost scary. If the tiles are not completely level, the weight of the handle can actually make a knife move, also after a while if it is sliding very, very slooooowly

Sounds like a pleasant evening \O

^Q^ ^Q^ ^Q^ ^Q^ Flutts!

Yes, a very pleasant evening indeed! 0/0

The boy was drinking juice... 0*\

Flutts and I did quite a complex tango in the small kitchen, also discovering the mysteries of the hotplates as usual! lol

I see the barber shaved half of the skin off the back of my head again... O/

I got home fine, except for walking into the thatch on my verandah and getting two holes in the front of my head... :o0ps:

I'm about half way through the leftovers. X#X

I wonder if RP actually has mastered some demoncraft (witchcraft seems a bit odd in his case -O- ) and managed to move the knife only with the power of his mind? -O- lol

That is a LOT of food and not everything was on the table by then, I conclude O-/

Forgot what you saw that afternoon. Too much distraction in camp

Oh, and I don't think I have ever seen the RP without a cap  And it looks like you lost some weight, RP?
Maybe the leftovers are not sufficient to feed you properly...

O/\ O/\ Looks like a great evening .Important to have lots of meat at a braai lol

The knife story is a bit O-/ :-?

We have lots of Geckos here and regularly end up with them on our head especially when opening the garage door but they do also sometimes just seem to fall off the walls O**
