Not a bad diversion while sitting in a queue! :-0

It was great light RP \O
A nice diversion when sitting on the bridge itself, but strangely you couldn't see them from up the road behind the entrance gates... so the people waiting there must have been getting very frustrated O-/

Perfect light on those lions! \O \O
Thanks Flutts... that mongoose was nice to see \O

Absolutely... timing couldn't have been better! I wonder what (if anything) the first people in the gate got to see of them :-?
Mel wrote: Wed Aug 14, 2019 6:34 pm Beautiful lighting :-0
Sure was Mel \O
Klipspringer wrote: Wed Aug 14, 2019 6:38 pm Are there only youngsters in the pride?
Yeah we're not too sure of the dynamics of this pride, but it does have a lot of young sub-adult lions at the moment

Thanks Roger, we couldn't have asked for a better start :-0

Fri 29th June contd

Once officially into the park we travelled up the H4-2 with a plan to go up the S130 again. Everything was rather quiet after the excitement of the Vurhami pride, but we stopped to see some elephant a few km before the entrance to the S130

Image

We continued on our way and fortunately I happened to be looking the right direction to see a lioness charging out the bush on our left and stop in time as she dashed over the road right in front of us! She was on a mission and very quickly disappeared into the bush on our right

Image

We drove slowly on to see if she would pop out anywhere else and then found a young boy hop out and run along the road O\/

Image

The lioness had gone back across the road behind us now and we caught sight of another lioness somewhere in the bushes before the first one popped out again

Image

It seemed like they were trying to flush something/anything out for a bit of breakfast O**

After a few minutes whatever they were chasing seemed to have disappeared and they all came out onto the road in different places... generally moving the same direction as us O:V

Image

The lionesses continued to search around a bit, but didn't seem to rush off like before O/\

By this point two other cars had arrived behind us, so when I got the chance I went past the lions to try get some pics of them walking towards us X#X

The boy turned out to be quite a poser ;-)

They all met up again off the road and started moving further away into the bush

With only two other cars at a lion sighting on a tar road in the middle of the school holidays we figured we had ridden our luck well. The lions were now very hard to see, so we decided it was time to continue on our way \O
