Night noise

Post by ubhejane »

Sorry if this is the wrong place to pose this question . . . .

I have just spent a few nights in iMfolozi, staying in the tented camp. I was woken one night by quite loud, short, sharp ?exhalations close to our tent. The sort of sound you might make if a fly flew into your face and you blew it fiercely away. (but louder and sharper)That's the only way I can describe it. So - is it a warning sound from one of the antelopes? A bush pig? What?

@ klipspringer - thanks. it was none of those. In tone perhaps closest to impala but shorter, sharper.

@Richardprins - well I cant say exactly but somewhere between midnight and 03.00 . . . .

@Peter Betts - oh shoot! You mean mozzies exhale as well as whine? And don't tell me its only when they pierce your flesh; I don't want to know that . . . .

Anyway :ty: all .
