Dear Friends,

Due to the developments of late, I have decided, that for the moment the best way is to close down this group. Thank you all for having shared your stories and concerns over the poaching and snares in the KNP. I will let you know via my personal FB page (for those who befriended me these past few years) if any further developments may cause a change, but until then...this is it.

Keep your eyes open and report to the emergency number provided on the KNP entrance permits if you see anything that needs special attention. It's the same number I always used.

I have worked for these animals with all my heart and put in a lot of energy into this action, that is all I can say. I gained nothing, earned nothing and received nothing - only sincere gratification and thankfulness after a 'save'. To me it was a team effort, from the person reporting, up to the last pat on the bum from the vets. A job well done. That was all this action was about.

To all the people who have helped to locate and report the snared animals I thank you for your efforts and compassion. For now, I will take a little breathing time to recuperate and regroup.

We will meet again no doubt.

With love and always a voice for the voiceless animals,

Lize

PS I'm going to leave this post for a day or two until the majority have seen it. It's bad manners just to disappear

I suspect it is the mentality of refusing to seem inadequate, no matter the consequences. O**

This seems part of a blanket clampdown that is old and vague: https://www.africawild-forum.com/viewto ... 318&t=7990

Africa Wild has even been mentioned! lol

Same happened in 2012 re. our Kruger Maintenance thread:

Media Release: KNP warns against false representation

Date: 18th May 2012

The Managing Executive of the Kruger National Park (KNP), Mr Abe Sibiya would like to warn members of the public, business community and staff members to be on the lookout for people who falsely and publicly claim to represent the KNP on various aspects of its business.

“It has come to our attention that there are online forums operating and claiming to represent the South African National Parks (SANParks), in particular the KNP by offering customer care facilities that discuss conservation and tourism related matters for guests. We would like to put it on record that SANParks already has its own established formal procedures and channels for handling guest feedback and does not need a third party to deal with issues on its behalf,” he said.

These people cite, in their online forums that their customer care facility is meant to assist with reporting of issues e.g. incidents or complaints concerning the National Parks; therefore complementing the organization’s existing channels. The administrators of these forums encourage the public either through own forum or media that issues such as complaints and queries should be posted on their forum. They then in turn approach staff members at the relevant parks/camps whom they can manage to get hold of, for a follow-up and feedback.

“Our employees are aware that only authorized and designated staff members can represent or speak on behalf of SANParks on any particular matter however we cannot prevent them or any member of the public from joining these online forums in their individual capacity;” concluded Sibiya.

To submit feedback on SANParks, customers should use the official online web addresses as follows:

Complaints, compliments and queries on:

We totally ignored that and the thread has been going on for 9 years with dozens of successful outcomes! lol

Reporting snares, poachers, crimes etc on FB does not make any sense, IMO.

SANParks can not check all social media platforms if there is an urgent matter to follow up.

So, well done SANParks for the call to report directly to them \O

Sometimes they tend to be paranoid thinking that someone is trying to take something away from them and SANParks treat them like enemies. 0-

The lady who ran that page didn't expect SANParks to check it...she would phone the official number and report it. So, not sure what the problem was with that. -O-

Hyenas are the most exposed. I suppose because of their curiosity; they want to sniff at everything :O^
