Re: Accident near Mopani
Many injured but it will be like all the other accidents where we were told there would be a full investigation done and the results made public. Does not happen, my memory harks back to that dreadful accident with the taxi where I know people wrote about being the first on the scene. The horrendous accident when the elderly couple were hit while their vehicle was stopped , the vehicles that have gone over the causeway at Crocodile Bridge AND AND AND - THE LIST IS ENDLESS. WE ARE NEVER TOLD ANYTHING BUT DEARIE ME I FORGOT WE ARE MUSHROOMS!!!

Media update
Update on the accident per SanParks
A combi with 13 day visitors on their way to Letaba, was involved in an accident south of Mopani earlier today.
Two occupants were treated for minor injuries and taken to hospital for observation. Indications are that a giraffe stepped into the road and the taxi could not avoid hitting it and the animal fell on top of a rental safari vehicle. The driver, a Swiss national was seriously injured and the passenger suffered minor injuries.
Medical personnel stabilized him at the scene before airlifting him to hospital. SAPS will be conducting investigations and circumstances that led to the accident.
SANParks continues to warn visitors to the KNP to observe the speed limit and be careful on the roads.

Re: Accident near Mopani
One assumes the impact was so massive that it threw the giraffe through the air and onto the bakkie
So either the bakkie is very soft or the speed of the taxi was excessive
