The fulvous duck is new to me too. I have seen red-billed teals once, two of them
Cute little kudu with a caring mom
Great sequence of the snake-eating secretary bird I would love to see it
"Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world." Nelson Mandela The desire for equality must never exceed the demands of knowledge
Then we were caught in a smaller traffic jam – A lot of raptors could be seen on the ground in the grass close to the road – We discovered a tawny
another one
and a beautiful dark brown one
on top also lots of European rollers were also around and even were dive bombing to the ground between all the many raptors.
Besides on the ground many of the raptors were circling in the sky and from time to time one landed on a tree stump
and also many amur falcons joint the other raptors in the sky and also were flying close to the ground between them.
Some of the amur falcons could be captured whilst flying around
and as we had still a lot of time left we decided to pay a short visit to Nkaya pan and return later with a bit spare time to this sighting. Nkaya pan itself was a lovely spot but it was not that much around but we spotted a grey heron on a rock
and a lone wildebeest taking a rest
so we stayed not that long and returned to the raptors who were still around – Now ever a lighter one could be captured as well.
We really had a great time to watch and photograph all these different raptors
especially with all the different colours they had and that they even could be seen so close to the road without feeling disturbed.
For sure we stayed as long as possible and so did most of the cars as well so when the gate closing time approached a great number of cars in a row was travelling slowly back to camp but for sure it was still enough time to capture one of the two rainbows with the dark clouds in the background.
On top we even stopped for another brown raptor in a tree along the road
and whilst we noticed the turn off into the S100 we realized that they opened same again so we will be able to drive tomorrow our farewell tour on that road as tomorrow will also be our last full day in Satara and today we decided to have dinner in the restaurant which was indeed quite full and the food and service were great as well.
After all the rain the previous days today we were surprised by a beautiful sunrise
and as already said the S100 is always a must although same can be extreme quiet and was indeed quiet during that trip but a final drive on our last day in that area is a must. We stopped for another tawny eagle with a nearly pink sky in the background
and it took not that long and same said already good-bye to us.
