Re: 2020 - Summer At Hazyview
I have never seen so many before. There are dozens and dozens. Like there are dozens and dozens of OSVs. Never seen so many in a single day as a couple of days ago. I must have seen 30 in one hour; more private ones than Kruger ones.
Today was a stupid day and too hot. At 3 pm 38°, it then started down but not that much. At 4 pm there were two cars where the leopard sighting had been a couple of days ago; just sitting there waiting in an oven and not even sure if the leopard turns up.
I had decided to go the restaurant at Skukuza, the Cattle Baron, to get a decent meal. I went onto the terrace and sat down. After five minutes with three waiters standing doing nothing, I made a sign to one of them to come. " Are you alone?" " Yes I am". A moment of silence. The table had four mats and was dirty with bread crumbs and oily/wet stains. As he was not moving or doing a gesture "Would you kindly clean the table and bring me the menu". The cleaning was a movement with a napkin to remove the crumbs. The table was still dirty and the four mats all messed up like before. He went away and came back with two menus, threw them on the table and disappeared again. I had started to get rather annoyed and when I saw the prices I decided that I had had enough, that it was too hot to eat and went to the takeaway. There the tables were clean and the lady at the desk was very kind and I spent much less on a salad and a bottle of water
There is urgent need of a more service-minded staff who know their job.... everywhere, but especially at a place like the Cattle Baron!!

Ja, good thing to stick to the rules. The slightest deviation might trigger one of those corrupt police people to "rob" you of a hefty fineLisbeth wrote: ↑Sat Feb 01, 2020 5:52 pm A little too long, about 20/25 minutes, depending on the traffic. I could probably do it in 18 if driving like some madmen around. The first piece you have to go slowly as there are one stop after the other, but then there is a long strech (with 60km signs) where you can run, but too dangerous with the people walking/crossing and the madmen above incl. sometaxis, which stop and go in zigzag and even trucks
I just don't understand that it is so difficult to keep to the rules and only overtake where it's allowed

Another day in Kruger.....
I took the sand road towards Pretoriuskop. First encounter

A barn swallow I think..

Every time I pass a stone like this, in the middle of nowhere and with no rocks whatsoever around, I cannot help wondering how on earth it got there

A quick visit at Mestel Dam. You never know

Does anybody know what this is or is going to be? It looks quite new, but there is still a "no entrance" sign

I am not 100% sure of the model, but most likely a brown-headed kingfisher. You don't see many striped ones

Breakfast at Pretoriuskop

Then the H1-1 towards Skukuza.
A very short look at

As expected nothing interesting today

A view towards "I don't know what"

To me this was the best sighting of the day so you can immagine the others
It was really funny to see this poor little lost wattled lapwing running around at high speed looking terribly desperate. Maybe still too young to be left alone
