Re: My Dream of Many Years Come True...Almost!
The Americans had returned during the late morning so there were more people for lunch
In the afternoon Vincent and I went out for a ride in one of the smaller boats, which had returned with the Americans or rather the other way around
At the end of this TT I can assure you that you will have enough of cattle egrets and papyrus for quite some time......take it or leave it
Just a digression: It is not at all easy to take photos from a boat, which is always moving
The nest of a thick-billed weaver. It is incredible how neat it is especially considering that it has been made with a bill as the only tool
As you can see the reeds are cut from time to time
We went into a small canal and there were lots of birds and insects flying about, but no way to get pics of those.
An African darter, one of the many, drying the wings
Water thick-knees
Red-eyed dove from far away

Re: My Dream of Many Years Come True...Almost!
My favourite tree decorated with African darters
A single darter in top of a tree and a little bittern hidden in the reeds
A sunset that promised rain in my opinion and fortunately I was wrong for the time being, it might have been raining during the night though.
Dinner in the evening
Notice the cushion in my chair. I hate to be seated to low when I eat, so I had fetched the cushion from the sitting area. From then on, whenever I was supposed to sit down at the table, someone hurried to get "my" cushion. The staff was GOOD!!
I still remember the taste of this starter, it was filled with fig conserve and fresh cheese and...It was to die for.
Luckily, because I could have done without the chicken
Also the sweet wasn't bad
At the meals there were always guide/s, head of staff (to the right) present and it kind of enhanced a sense of companionship which felt right especially during the next few days, when I was the only guest. They were very educated and fitted well. I was quite surprised by myself
The Americans were leaving the next morning
End of day two

PJL and you seem to be right about the monkeys I have tried to find them on the Internet, but ended always up with vervets, which did not seem right

What a rare adventure, Lis!
And a pro setup. One of the signs of a cut above is often the impeccable spelling and grammar on information boards...I still can't find a mistake!
(And a Lisbeth stamp of approval is rare! )
Never heard of those monkeys...
Seems to be quite a few invader plants on the shore there.
And community members that look unlikely to blockade roads etc!

Never had I and I had searched all over the place because they did not look like vervets, but I had found nothing. Luckily Pete came with the solution
What you call "invader plants" is corn and cucumber plants grown by the locals. They have to survive in one way or the other Obviously, Vincent knew them, as he came back with a nice "whatever it was"

Oh Wow! This is surely an unexpected part of your adventure. You never cease to amaze me.
Looks like a wonderful place to spend some time. Your shots are lovely.
The "vervet" info. is so interesting - seems like most of us had never known about this closely related group. The ears on the baby are HUGE , unlike the adults. Perhaps they, unlike human kids, listen more than they talk. The papyrus makes for such a lovely backdrop.
Glad the staff/guides treated you well, Your Highness. SO happy you're back to realizing some of your dreams.
