Have done a little bit of research on your terrapin and it's the Pelomedusa subrufa sensu stricto which in South Africa is restricted to the Limpopo province. It is recorded from the western border region of the Kruger Park.
This species, together with other helmeted terrapins throughout sub-Saharan Africa were previously combined under the name Pelomedusa subrufa. Recent studies have recognized as many as 10 species within this genus and have shown that P. subrufa sensu strictu constitutes a distinct species and is different to P. galatea which occurs in the southern parts of South Africa.

This is the first one for us here on the AW forum. Great find.

Thanks for this interesting info Klippies, unfortunately only got this shot. I moved into a different position, but then it slipped off the rock and wet under. I'll keep my eyes open and try to find it again.

Well, it's great being on leave and being able to get out and take photos. But, the weather has its own plans. If it's not wet and overcast,

it's touching 40C with crazy humidity.

Down at the river, this Grey Heron caught the sun beautifully...

With all the rain, the Olifants is muddy and running strong from bank to bank. This makes for ideal conditions for the Crocodiles, they are practically undetectable...
