I finished up my last travel tale with the following quote:
Monday 14 October 2019
Even though we were driving all the way back to Cape Town, we couldn’t resist a short trip into the park
We drove as far as the 10km Twee Riveren sign before turning around.
We stopped at Samvloeiing to take the only picture of the morning
We left the park at about 8am and were home at 9.30 that night, looking forward to our next trip in April/May 2020, which gave us some consolation whist leaving our favourite place.
Little did we know...........That the 27th of March would arrive!!

I don't think that you would have started this without having visited the KTP

Re: Social distancing in the Kgalagadi Oct/Nov 2020
Thanks everyone for all jumping on the bus.
Only problem is that this bus may take a day or two to get going.
To re-cap
After our October/November 2019 trip, we had arranged another visit for May / June this year.
We had a 3 week trip planned which included both the SANparks and Botswana sides of the park.
As our dates came closer and closer, we soon realised that the trip was not going to happen, so we decided to postpone the trip to October 2020 for the SANParks bookings and to April/May for the Botswana bookings
After much searching, swopping of dates and having to deal with COVID at work, working remotely and shutdowns we eventually had a trip booked.
Our itinerary was as follows:
Twee Rivieren 3 nights
Mata Mata 3 nights
Nossob 7 nights
Mata Mata 4 nights
and our last 3 nights at Twee Rivieren
All camping in our trailer
We had also planned on spending two nights on the way up in Keimos at Oranjerus, so on Saturday 24 October we left Cape Town
We arrived in Keimos that afternoon to find the camp site where we to be spending the next two nights totally over run with locals venturing out for a weekend of partying after a long shut down.
Not a great scenario
I was quickly on the phone to Twee Rivieren, and the only accommodation available the next night was a chalet. We grabbed it.
So we popped up our small pop up tent and made the best of a bad situation for the evening
We did at least also see this Barbet the following morning, before setting off to the Kgalagadi a day earlier than planned
