Then it got a bit quite although we spotted but could not capture a group of woodhoopoes when we finally reached the Shingwedzi river following the road there was more to be seen such as grey herons and yellow billed storks in the river,

Image

masses of hippos enjoying the presence of each other

Image

as well as saddle billed storks.

Image

Even a crested barbet was willing to stop for a short photo shooting

Image

and so did a fork tailed drongo sitting in the shade of a tree as they often do.

Image

It was again getting hotter and hotter with every minute and the birds simply enjoyed the shade

Image

and although it was that hot already a couple of hippos decided to leave the river to

Image

stretch the legs a bit.

Image

We then met extreme close to the road a waterbuck mom

Image

plus her cute fluffy youngster

who was extreme cute

Image

and on top both were extreme relaxed although they were standing that close to us and even allowed us to take a couple of close ups from them.

Image

Image

In the end they even allowed a photo from both of them together they in fact must have enjoyed the shady trees, high grass and the close river in that area tremendously.

Image

At first sight we though that this zebra might have been hurt but same was only a bit tired

Image

and needed a short rest

Image

and we carried on along the river and captured more saddle billed storks,

Image

a bulbul

Image

until we then finally reached Shingwedzi but what to say a short visit to the close by causeway was a must and we soon noticed green backed

Image

and grey herons.

Image

to be continued……….

The waterbucks are mostly rather willing to pose and they are also worth quite a few shots, especially with a little one ^Q^ ^Q^
